Are you looking for a way to explore and share your love of poetry in Las Vegas, NV? Look no further than the Las Vegas Poets Organization (LVPO), the largest and oldest nonprofit poetry organization in the state. Founded with the vision of becoming the preeminent organization of its kind in Nevada, LVPO is devoted to inspiring, supporting, educating, and encouraging writers and poets as they develop their craft and careers. The organization offers a range of activities, programs, meetings, and an online community to help writers refine their skills. They also provide information about Southern Nevada to writers from all over the world.
In addition, LVPO hosts regular sessions where participants use cards as inspiration to write drafts in class. The organization's founder is a master of creative writing from the University of Mississippi and has a doctorate in English from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. His work has been featured in Fireside, PseudoPOD, Shoreline of Infinity and other media. His second poetry manuscript explores surrealism and the simulacra of Las Vegas, offering both a critique and a celebration of American excess. In addition to its own publications, LVPO also works with Manic D Press to distribute books in the United States through Consortium, Last Gasp and wholesalers such as Ingram and Baker & Taylor; in the United Kingdom and the EU through Turnaround PSL; in Canada through Publishers Group Canada; and around the world through Perseus.
